"James C. Couri suffers from the panic of a neurotic identity crisis" resulting in "clouded...judgment, blunted...intelligence" and "misguided" "energies."

In the Presentence Memorandum, dated September 8, 1981, filed on behalf of criminal defendant James C. Couri in United States of America v. James C. Couri, 80 Cr. 361, 81 Cr. 219 (MEL), Couri's criminal attorneys made public portions of the report of Dr. Train, a treating psychiatrist, who concluded that Couri, at the age of 42, suffered from neurotic identity crisis.

"... James Couri as, having failed to complete a formal education, he set about trying to find success. What Dr. Train points out is that these feeling clouded Couri's adult judgment, blunted his intelligence, and directed his energies toward misguided and short-sighted tokens of success."
